Verse 1: When Israel cried in darkness deep, Oppression held them bound, A woman rose with wisdom's voice, Where justice could be found. Beneath the palm she judged with truth, God's word upon her tongue, A mother rose to lead the fight, When courage had begun. Chorus: Mother in Israel, fearless and true, God's spirit moved through all you'd do. With Barak by your side you'd stand, To free your people from their band. A prophetess with vision clear, You brought deliverance near. Verse 2: "Ten thousand men," you called that day, "To Tabor's mount ascend, For Jehovah goes before you now, On Him you can depend." When Barak feared to go alone, You walked beside him there, And Sisera's mighty army fell, Through God's appointed care. Chorus: Mother in Israel, fearless and true, God's spirit moved through all you'd do. With Barak by your side you'd stand, To free your people from their band. A prophetess with vision clear, You brought deliverance near. Bridge: A woman's hand would strike the blow, As Jael drove the tent peg down, And Israel sang of victory won, When peace at last was found. Final Chorus: Mother in Israel, fearless and true, God's spirit moved through all you'd do. Forty years of peace you'd bring, While Israel praised their King. A prophetess with vision clear, You brought deliverance near.
