[intro ] [Instrumental] [Verse ] Let me sing a little song about time, Only minutes left, just five, before the chime; Let it fly across the planet, Just for you I sing it gladly, Just for you – this tune on fleeting time… Only five minutes short — Soon the clock will strike next year; Only five minutes short — Make up now, it’s only fair; Only five minutes short… Take as good a look as any: Even these five minutes short Could accomplish much for many… Only five minutes short – Soon the clock will strike next year, Make up now, it’s only fair. [Instrumental] [Verse ] Look, the clock is ticking, time is: five to twelve, Comes the year, no moment left to dwell; It is racing, close and near, “Happy New Year!” – We shall cheer, Look the clock is ticking – five to twelve! Comes the year, no delay, It is at our threshold almost, Only five, they will fly – Those minutes few are golden. Be, my friend, quick and smart, Don’t you waste a second’s hair – Say the words in your heart, Don’t delay a whole year… Be, my friend, quick and smart – Say the words in your heart, Don’t delay a whole year. [Instrumental] [Bridge] It could happen: in five minutes people say: They will never marry, no chance or way; But the time is New-year-bound, And it changes all around, — In a minute, doubts swept away… Let the planet sing this tune, and let it fly, Little song of mine about five-minutes time, Oh, but while I was singing, Passed the time, the pendulum swinging, Here it comes! Just hear the magic chime! [Verse ] Comes the New Year’s Day! Happy New Year, joy and cheer! Time will sweep us away, Old year, you’re helpless here… Let the world sing and dance, Let the faces shine with laughter, Fill the night with thrill, I say! All the rest can wait till after. Comes the New Year’s Day! Happy New Year, joy and cheer! [Outro] [end]
