The High Priest's Plea
[Verse 1] We come before the throne of light, With hearts condemned by darkest night; But sin's dark wound finds blessed cure, When faith beholds the Lamb so pure. For mercy's plea is always heard, Through Him who kept the living Word. [Verse 2] No earthly temple holds Him now, Where mortals make the solemn vow; But in the courts of Heaven's high dome, He welcomes every wanderer home. His righteousness, a robe divine, Is freely offered, yours and mine. [Verse 3] He points the wounds He bore for all, Responding to the sinner’s call; The blood that speaks for those who fail, Turns justice into grace's trail. He is our constant Advocate, Lest we should face eternal fate. [Verse 4] When judgment calls the saints to test, And every life must stand confessed, Our hope is anchored, strong and sure, In Him whose cleansing shall endure. He saves the uttermost, we read, While interceding for our need. [Chorus] Our Great High Priest, He ever stands, With pierced feet and saving hands; Behind the veil where grace is found, His intercession shall abound. He lives to plead, He lives to pray, To wash the guilt of sin away.
