[Intro - soft piano] Father... [Verse 1] In all things we have come short, we need Your grace We need Your mercy, we come to seek Your face You have promised through John, if we confess our sin You are faithful and just to forgive, to cleanse within Make Your face shine upon us, give us Your peace [Chorus] You have kept us through the darkness, through perils of the night We thank You for Your keeping, for Your morning light Enable us to make this day worthy and beautiful Let every task be finished, let Your love shine through [Verse 2] Give us a true loving spirit toward all men Gentle, thoughtful, charitable, large-hearted to the end Unselfish and helpful, useful in Your hands Preserve us from envy, from jealousy and bitterness Let us quiet others fears, soothe their pains Comfort their sorrows, in Your loving name [Bridge 1] Help us in our trials and cares to be patient, victorious and strong To endure trouble and sorrow sweetly and calmly all day long [Bridge 2 - building] Let us pass through temptation unhurt by its fires Like the Hebrew children through the king's furnace unharmed Let us live in the world and not be hurt by the world Let our love grow stronger as our pilgrimage goes on [Chorus - anthemic] May Heaven draw upon us, lifting us nearer to You Every day in spirit, ennobling all we do Throw about us ever stronger bonds of divine grace Till we see Your glory face to face [Breakdown - prayer, quiet] We go forth now into the day to serve You as You will Make us faithful and true, Lord, make us faithful still Breathe upon us, fill us with Your Spirit, Lord we pray [Final Chorus - full] Make Your face shine upon us, give us Your peace Faithful and just to forgive, let Your mercy never cease We go forth to serve You, faithful and true Breathe upon us, fill us with Your Spirit anew [Outro - soft piano fade] In the name of Jesus Amen, Amen
