Why Should We Go to Church?

[Spoken Word Sermon — NOT Sung] [Warm Hammond B3 organ playing softly] Today I want to talk about something that is near and dear to all of our hearts. Why should we go to church? [Organ pauses, then plays a questioning gospel chord] But a better question would be, why shouldn't we go to church? [Congregation: Amen!] If the church is preaching the message, somebody say amen. [Congregation: AMEN!] If the church is preaching the truth of the Gospel, somebody say hallelujah. [Congregation: HALLELUJAH!] Then we should be there. [Organ swells warmly] But remember this: The church is not a physical building. [Congregation: That's right!] The church is every blood-bought, blood-washed child of God. [Congregation: Glory to God!] [Organ rises with excitement] Come on, come on, clap your hands there. [Congregation begins clapping] Clap your hands. [Congregation: Amen! Hallelujah!] WE ARE THE CHURCH! [Triumphant Hammond organ flourish] [Congregation: YES, LORD!] So when asked, why should we go to church? Why shouldn't we go to church? [Organ resolves with joyful gospel chords] [Congregation applause and praise] [End — No Singing]
