[fade in]
[Intro, instrumental ]

[Verse 1]
Every year, every year
I feel it drawing near
Equinox to solstice
The dying of the light

Colder and colder
Feel like I'm a winter soldier
Battle in body and mind
Stand alone against the night

[bridge]
The turning wheels of industry
Keep me in the dark
Unseen hand reaching out
To douse my sputtering spark

[chorus]
Wheel of the year always turning, turning
The machine keeps on churning, churning
For the spring I am yearning
Starting, ending every day
[hit]
Wheel of the year always turning, turning
The machine keeps on churning, churning
For the spring I am yearning
Starting, ending every day
Fighting, Fighting...
[hook]
Fighting the Gray !

[Verse 2]
Every person, every person
Wants to prosper, that is certain
We feed ourselves with a monster
Which one truly is in command?

Longer and longer
Serving our ironmomgers
Timetable set by dead farmers
Don't the masters understand?

[bridge]
An agrarian society
Decided when I get to sleep
Feeling weak upon my feet
Crushed by a veil of ebony

[solo]
[solo]

[Verse 3]
Tougher and tougher
Laboring for my supper
Dark when I come, when I leave
Trapped in endless black

Waiting and waiting
For darkness to be abating
I'll keep up my occupation
Until sun and smiles can come back

[final bridge]
The shadow is inside of me
Not just on the scenery
As light rises, day grows longer
Feel my will also getting stronger!

[final chorus]
Wheel of the year always turning, turning
The machine keeps on churning, churning
For the spring I am yearning
Starting, ending every day
[hit]
Wheel of the year always turning, turning
The machine keeps on churning, churning
For the spring I am yearning
Starting, ending every day
Fighting, Fighting...
[hook]
Fighting the Gray !
