TIME 001 – The Fourth Dimension | The Time Machine

(Verse 1) Around the table gathered men beneath the lamplight glow, While wine and conversation moved in measured, easy flow. The Traveller leaned forward with a challenge in his eyes, And spoke of hidden pathways that the common mind denies. (Verse 2) He said that length and breadth and depth were not the final frame, For time must stand beside them as a dimension just the same. A body moves through space, he claimed, from place to chosen place, So why should time alone forbid the traveller equal grace? (Chorus) The fourth dimension waited past the limits they could see, A road through vanished yesterdays and futures yet to be. They laughed and raised objections, but he answered every claim, For time was not a prison if its nature stayed the same. (Verse 3) The sceptics pressed their questions while the fire began to fade, And challenged every bold assertion that the Traveller made. He spoke of human consciousness compelled to drift ahead, A current bearing every life from cradle unto dead. (Verse 4) Yet what if man could master it and choose the speed and way, Could halt within a century or cross a thousand days? Could yesterday be entered like a chamber through a door, And ages still unborn become a country to explore? (Chorus) The fourth dimension waited past the limits they could see, A road through vanished yesterdays and futures yet to be. They laughed and raised objections, but he answered every claim, For time was not a prison if its nature stayed the same. (Bridge) Their reason called it fantasy, their instincts called it strange, Yet every law they trusted had been born from human change. The Traveller smiled quietly as doubt began to climb, For somewhere in his workshop stood a doorway into time. (Outro) The dinner ended slowly, though the question lingered there, A thought too vast for ridicule to vanish into air. They left believing argument was all that night had shown, While he possessed the proof that time could truly be their own.
