I This world was shaped for peace and light, Yet cracks now run through every land; For hearts that choose the path of spite Have sown the grief we cannot stand. II The wounds we bear from human wrong Are born of pride and fear and greed; Where love grows weak, the weak grow strong In ways that bruise instead of feed. III And nature groans beneath its strain, Its storms and sickness unrestrained; Not sent by God to deepen pain, But signs of earth’s own wounds sustained. IV So suffering comes from fractured ways— From choices made and worlds undone; Yet God walks with us through the haze, A steady hope when hope is none. V For though the world is cracked and scarred, And sorrow meets us where we live, God’s presence holds us firm and hard— A love the broken world can’t give.
