When I was young, I loved the rain.

I would go outside without an umbrella,
not caring if my clothes got soaked,
and tilt my face upward
to feel the raindrops fall directly onto it.

At some point, though I cannot say exactly when,
I stopped liking the feeling of getting caught in the rain.
Now, whenever rain is on the way,
I instinctively reach for an umbrella.

Yesterday, while walking uphill after work,
I suddenly looked up
and let the cold rain fall onto my face again.

It was such a small, ordinary moment,
but it brought back a feeling I had nearly forgotten
and made me smile for no particular reason.

“Halfway Up the Hill” was inspired by
the way L’Arc-en-Ciel’s “Singin’ in the Rain”
connects rain, everyday scenery, and memory.

Rather than recreating its melody or arrangement,
I wanted to tell my own story
about a brief moment when the rain
brought an old feeling back to life.

It was not the same as before.

Still, it was not bad.

顔を上げて、降ってくる雨を
そのまま受けるのが好きでした。

けれど、いつからなのかは自分でも分かりません。
今では雨に濡れるのが苦手になり、
雨が降りそうな日は、
まず傘を探すようになりました。

そんな私が昨日、
仕事帰りの坂道を歩いている途中で、
ふと顔を上げ、
久しぶりに冷たい雨をそのまま受けてみました。

ほんの些細な出来事でしたが、
忘れていた感覚が少しだけ戻ってきた気がして、
なぜか自然と笑みがこぼれました。

「坂道の途中」は、
L’Arc-en-Cielの「Singin’ in the Rain」が描く、
雨と日常の風景、そして記憶を結びつける表現から
着想を得て生まれた曲です。

メロディーやアレンジを再現するのではなく、
雨をきっかけに、昔の感覚が一瞬だけよみがえった
私自身の小さな出来事を歌にしました。

昔と同じではありませんでした。

それでも、悪くありませんでした。

영감을 받아 만든 곡입니다.

저의 작고 실제적인 경험을 노래로 담았습니다.

예전과 같지는 않았습니다.
