Braces the Fox - Wireframe Girl

I look like a sketch in pencil Still waiting to be filled in Teeth all wrong, metal crooked Like they argue when I grin My nose feels too big for my face Like it showed up early And the mirror never lets me forget I’m not built soft or curvy They say “you’ll grow into it” Like I’m not here yet Like this version of me Is something to regret I’m a wireframe girl Half-rendered, half-there Everyone else looks finished I’m just standing in the glare I’m a wireframe girl See-through and unsure You can see all my angles But nothing feels secure Freckles scattered like mistakes I never asked to keep Tomboy clothes, scraped-up knees Nothing soft, nothing sweet I hear the way they talk about girls Like it’s one clean shape And I don’t know where I fit In the rules they never state I try to laugh it off I try to play it cool But I feel like a rough draft In a room full of finished rules I’m a wireframe girl You can see through my skin Count my flaws like vertices Every place I don’t begin I’m a wireframe girl Built wrong, or so it seems Too flat in all the places That the magazines need But my hair— My hair behaves I wash it, brush it, let it dry I take my time, I do it right It falls the way I want it to Catches light, listens to me It’s the only part that feels Like it belongs to me I’m a wireframe girl Still loading, still slow Still waiting for permission To feel pretty, I guess I don’t know I’m a wireframe girl But I try, I swear I do I build myself in pieces Just to feel a little true One day I’ll be solid That’s what they all say Until then I’ll fix my hair And hope That’s enough To stay
