[Verse 1] I heard the letter read aloud Plain as Sunday rain “Be obedient in all things” That was Paul’s refrain A man was hurting, down a while Then his heart broke free The room got quiet, then the truth Came home to mercy [Pre-Chorus] David said He’s good Ready to forgive Micah asked the question Who pardons us like this? [Chorus] Back to mercy, back to love (Back to mercy) Back where grace is strong enough (Back to mercy) If he turns his heart around Let him rise, don’t keep him down Back to mercy, back to love (Back to mercy) [Verse 2] Isaiah said, let go the road That leads a soul astray Return to Jehovah’s arms There’s mercy in the way So Corinth took the harder step And chose the healing part They welcomed back the repentant one And covered up his heart [Pre-Chorus] Not delayed by pride Not bound by yesterday When repentance is the answer Love knows what to say [Chorus] Back to mercy, back to love (Back to mercy) Back where grace is strong enough (Back to mercy) If he turns his heart around Let him rise, don’t keep him down Back to mercy, back to love (Back to mercy) [Bridge] That’s how You taught us That’s how You lead To forgive in a large way Like You forgive me [Final Chorus] Back to mercy, back to love (Back to mercy) Back where grace is strong enough (Back to mercy) If he turns his heart around Let him rise, don’t keep him down Back to mercy, back to love (Back to mercy)
