AZ ÉREM HARMADIK OLDALA / THE THIRD SIDE OF THE COIN

THE THIRD SIDE OF THE COIN [Intro] I used to think you’re truly alive when you’re surrounded by a world full of noise. When they called, I stayed home. When they waited, I cancelled. And I always searched for the fault inside me. I didn’t know yet what was stirring within, or what my resistance was trying to protect. I only asked myself: Why can’t you live the way others do? [Verse 1] I never judged the rush around me, I just lost myself inside. Too many faces, too many feelings, every unspoken word passed through me. My body already knew what I couldn’t see: it wasn’t weakness— it was protecting me. Years went flying over my head, and I thought I’d missed my life. But life was quietly shaping me until I became myself. [Pre-Chorus] Young as I was, I chose a partner and a life to share. Two daughters came into our world, and through them I was born again. I didn’t miss my life. It simply wasn’t happening where I had searched for it. [Chorus] Every coin has a third side— a narrow edge between the noise and silence. I won’t keep running from one into the other. Neither extreme will choose for me again. The whole world can be loud around me when what once screamed inside has finally fallen silent. I step onto the narrow edge— and with every step, a new path opens before me. [Verse 2] For so long, silence was my shelter. Now it has become much more. There I learned to hear what belonged to me, and what had entered me from someone else. It became something precious I won’t place in just anyone’s hands. My heart is open. My door is open. But my soul stands watch beside it. Those who stay outside are not bad people. It isn’t punishment if I don’t let them in. The dance floor opening inside me is no longer meant for everyone. [Pre-Chorus 2] If someone comes, let them come for real. Not only to disturb the stillness of the water. Let them have the courage to enter my silence, and truly be present when I step outside. [Bridge] I know the victim living inside me. And I know the one who would destroy it all when wounded. I don’t deny either one. But I won’t let them make my choices anymore. I don’t have to disappear so no one else will hurt. I don’t have to destroy to finally be free. I’m learning how to walk right here— on the thinnest edge of the coin. [Mantra] Not against the noise. Not behind the silence. Both are within me. And I stand between them. The noise moves me. The silence guides me. My heart stays open. My soul decides. THE NOISE HOLDS ME— IT TAUGHT ME HOW TO MOVE! THE SILENCE HOLDS ME— IT TAUGHT ME HOW TO LISTEN! I STEP ONTO THE NARROW EDGE— AND NOW I’M THE ONE WHO HOLDS ME! [Final Chorus] Every coin has a third side— and I am learning how to dance upon it. I didn’t miss my life. I haven’t come too late. Every year has led me here. There can be noise outside when silence lives within me. There can be silence outside when my heart still dares to live. I won’t break free by destroying everything around me— I will become free and still remain whole. [Outro] My heart is open. My door is open. But my soul decides who gets to walk through it. I step forward— and another path opens before me. Not in the noise. Not in the silence. But finally— within myself. AZ ÉREM HARMADIK OLDALA [Intro — fully sung, intimate clear female vocal, rhythmic grand-piano pulse, bowed vibraphone shimmer] Azt hittem régen, az él igazán, akit körülölel a hangos világ. Ha hívtak, nem mentem. Ha vártak, lemondtam. És mindig magamban kerestem a hibát. Még nem tudtam, mi mozdul bennem. Mit próbál őrizni a tiltakozás. Nyitva a szívem. [Bridge — entire sound contracts to one intimate point, close vocal, low heartbeat and cello] Ismerem már az áldozatot magamban. [Mantra Build — firm rhythmic singing, each line stronger, deep toms approaching] Nem a zaj ellen. Nem a csend mögé. Mindkettő bennem. És én középen. A zaj mozdít. A csend vezet. A szívem nyitva. A lelkem választ. [Monumental Break — full-force female vocal, enormous spatial expansion] MEGTART A ZAJ— MEGTANÍTOTT MOZDULNI! MEGTART A CSEND— MEGTANÍTOTT HALLANI! KILÉPEK AZ ÉREM VÉKONY ÉLÉRE— [One second complete silence] ÉS MOST MÁR ÉN TARTOM MEG MAGAM! [Outro — clean decisive ending, piano and vibraphone, fully sung] Nyitva a szívem.
