Let It Ring

[Verse 1] Your jacket’s hanging on the chair Your shoes are by the door Your phone lights up across the room You know what they’re calling for You look at it and turn it down Then move back next to me Pull the covers to your shoulders Like that’s where you want to be [Pre-Chorus] You spend all day being what they need Even when you need a minute too Leave that screen face down beside us Let this hour belong to you [Chorus] Let it ring, let it ring You can call them in the morning Let it ring, let it ring Come lie back beside me Everybody gets your time Keep a little for tonight If that phone lights up again Let it ring [Verse 2] You laugh and say, “They’ll live till ten” I say, “I think they might” You tuck your cold feet under mine And pull the covers tight You tell me how your week has been The things you couldn’t say Then somewhere in the middle of a word You kiss me anyway [Pre-Chorus] You spend all day being what they need Even when you need a minute too Leave that screen face down beside us Let this hour belong to you [Chorus] Let it ring, let it ring You can call them in the morning Let it ring, let it ring Come lie back beside me Everybody gets your time Keep a little for tonight If that phone lights up again Let it ring [Bridge] The room goes quiet for a moment Then the screen begins to shine You reach across and turn it over And move your hand back into mine [Final Chorus] Let it ring, let it ring You can call them in the morning Let it ring, let it ring Come lie back beside me Everybody gets your time Keep a little for tonight When that phone lights up again Let it ring [Instrumental Outro] [Warm electric-piano motif, soft bass and atmospheric synth fade)
