The Heavy Quiet

Created for the Worth 1000 challenge over at The Soundry Discord. I generated an image using only the that the people gave me and from those images we have to create song is based on them... Well not based on, more so but "inspired by... " We have 1 or 2 challenges per month with evergreen activities. Join us, won't you? https://discord.gg/z4HGVkmHC https://suno.com/@thesoundry ------------- I’ve got one foot glued to the landing And the other hovering like a threat I could go down there and let you have it But I’m letting my knees lock instead Staring out the window at the cars smearing by in the wet The hallway behind me is a museum of things I’ve already said And the kitchen down below is just a fight we haven’t started So I’m staking my claim right here on the carpet Where you can't reach me Where the grandfather clock is holding its breath Just to see who breaks first. It’s the heavy, heavy quiet before the snap I’ve got the weight of it sitting right on my chest And I’m not moving. Don't ask me to figure it out for you I’m making myself a home in the gap I’m fine right here in the gap. My head is a crowded room and nobody's leaving Just a sudden hot flush behind the eyes I’ve got all these ugly little things I was supposed to spit out But I'm swallowing them down I'm keeping them inside Dangling my legs over the banister I'm not falling, I'm just calculating the drop It’s surprisingly peaceful When you decide you're just going to stop. If I lean an inch to the left, I ruin the night If I lean an inch to the right, I have to admit you were right And I won't do it. I won't do it. The whole street is spinning but I’m rooted to the wood Neither side is mine anyway So I’m staying right where I stood. Just catching the draft from the door Hanging in the margin Waiting for the wind to make up its mind Because I'm not making up mine.
