Still Walking Through It (Outlaw Country) x (Beatnik Jazz) (Mashup) v1

V5.5

SONG NOTES The weekly fusion mashup was originally inspired by @𝔦𝔣𝔫𝔬𝔫𝔢𝔱𝔥𝔢𝔫𝔬𝔫𝔢. The idea is to take the titles of all the songs you made in a given week (as if it were a strangely-written sentence) and create a song out of it. THIS WEEK’S PROMPT Le marais the chest of silver evangelos rising alien landscape. Bright side, I keep what chose me. ADDITIONAL NOTES This was a complete experiment from start to finish (which is the point of #MashupMonday). First, I gave both Suno and Google’s Gemini the instructions to create a stream-of-consciousness spoken word piece using the titles of last week’s songs. Both gave me something interesting that could easily overlap with one another. So I did! The sung portion is by Suno, and the spoken word bridge portion is by Gemini. I edited lines and words here and there to make a more cohesive storyline. I then genned it in 4.5+, 5.0 and 5.5 to see what I would get. In the end, 5.0 came up with two of the best options. One was a semi-sung/semi-spoken word piece that was a bit beatnik jazzy, the other a kind of outlaw country. I liked both of them, so I developed each of them in 5.5 until I was satisfied, but then I wondered…what would they sound like TOGETHER? The more I played with them, the more I liked them, both together and separately. I simply couldn’t decide which version to release! If you’d like to hear all the versions I liked as I created them, check out the Still WalkingThrough It playlist here: https://suno.com/playlist/251dd9c7-daca-4dd3-b18e-a27bffb25a7d SONG LYRICS [Verse 1] Le marais, I can still taste it back of the tongue, wet earth, like an old sin I said I was just passing through And that chest of silver Wasn’t a treasure, not really just something heavy I kept carrying like I owed it my soul evangelos I keep saying under my breath like a name, like a code like if I say it enough it’ll answer back [Pre-Chorus 1] Bright side, that’s the thing I keep circling I don’t know if it’s luck or a hand on the back of my neck [Chorus] I’m not naming it wrong anymore rising alien landscape in my bones like I woke up inside a place that was already moving [Verse 2] last week keeps walking through me laid out on my table next to the spoon, the keys, the receipt from the corner store on Fulton and bright side— I say that one out loud when the room goes flat when the sink won’t drain when my own hands feel borrowed I keep what chose me not because I’m brave because it keeps returning [Pre-Chorus 2] Bright side, I don’t need to dress it up I don’t need to make it holy hands in the reeds mouth full of weather still, I’m listening [Chorus] I’m not naming it wrong anymore rising alien landscape in my bones like I woke up inside a place that was already moving [Bridge] static on the retina, stepping sideways out of time, boots sinking into the dark moss of memory, marshland breath thick with forgotten prayers, heavy like the chest of silver dragged across the floorboards of an old life, gold is too loud but silver remembers every hand that ever touched it, every silent moonlit trade. Look up, look up—evangelos rising through the ozone, a herald carved of light and shadow singing in a language I used to know before the atmosphere shifted into an alien landscape, jagged peaks and purple skies where gravity pulls a little differently, where I don't have to explain the scars to the horizon. Searching for the bright side in the glare of the cosmic dust, a flickering neon sign in the dark, but I don't grab at everything passing by anymore, no, I keep what chose me, the tethered truths, the songs that stayed, the weight that belongs in my hands. [Final Chorus] I’m not naming it wrong anymore rising alien landscape in my bones and I’m still walking through it
