Roses on Tepeyac Hill II-Ab_bA-II

V6

ROSES ON TEPEYAC HILL Upon Tepeyac Hill that morning, Juan Diego walked to Mass. He heard a voice among the birds, "Juanito, my beloved child." There in the light stood Holy Mary, Her blue cloak bright with golden stars. "Go tell the bishop what I ask, Build me a chapel on this hill." That humble man went to the city, With Mother's words within his heart. The bishop listened, then he asked, "What sign will show that this is true?" He bowed his head without complaint, And climbed the hill to meet her there. She looked at him with tender love, "Do not be afraid, I am here." Our Lady of Guadalupe, You are with us here today. In a world of grief and sorrow, You call the smallest ones by name. O gentle Mother Guadalupe, Hold the poor within your care. Lead us ever closer to Jesus, Let love blossom everywhere. December left the hill dry and bare, Yet crimson roses bloomed anew. Juan Diego gathered them in his cloak, And carried them as she had said. He opened up his humble cloak, And one by one the roses fell. Upon the cloth her image shone, The room was silent in wonder. Our Lady of Guadalupe, You are with us here today. In a world of grief and sorrow, You call the smallest ones by name. O gentle Mother Guadalupe, Hold the poor within your care. Lead us ever closer to Jesus, Let love blossom everywhere. She did not choose a golden throne, She chose a cloak worn thin with use. She did not call the rich and great, She found a heart that trusted her. Through centuries her image remains, Her gentle eyes upon the world. The sick, the lonely, the forgotten, Come find a little peace with her. Our Lady of Guadalupe, Stay beside me when I'm afraid. Though this life may bring me sorrow, I know you'll never turn away. O my Mother of Guadalupe, Teach my heart to show compassion. To lift the fallen when they stumble, And love as Jesus taught us all. The roses bloomed upon that hill, Your tender love still lives in me. Guadalupe, dearest Mother, Please lead me home to Jesus.
