[Verse 1] (Ooo-yeah!) I used to glide like a butterfly Smooth on my feet Now my knees creak Snap Crackle to the beat! (snap, crackle, pop!) I can climb them stairs I still rise like a queen But coming down? Oh honey That’s just mean! [Prechorus] (Ah-ha!) Gravity’s got a grudge with me Pullin’ me down like a heavy tree (Oh no!) My body says “slow it Don’t play around ” 'Cause I get up But I can't get down! [Chorus] (I get up!) I get up But I can't get down! (Ooo, can't get down!) I get up But I can't get down! (Somebody help me now!) Still got the rhythm Still wear the crown But I get up Oh Lord I can't get down! [Verse 2] (Ooo!) I used to do the Twist The Jerk And the Slide Now I’m twistin’ my back just to stay upright. (Oh, help me now!) The music’s in my soul The funk’s still in my bones But these ol’ knees got a mind of their own! [Prechorus] (Ah-ha!) I can shimmy up I can boogie all day But comin’ back down It don’t feel the same way (Oh no!) Ain’t no shame in this funky sound I get up But I can't get down! [Chorus] (I get up!) I get up But I can't get down! (Ooo, can't get down!) I get up But I can't get down! (Somebody help me now!) Still got the rhythm Still wear the crown But I get up Oh Lord I can't get down!
