Instead, I invite you to listen closely and share with me what kind of story it is able to paint for you with instruments alone. [GLAIVE] is one part of a pair of songs, depicting a duo whose fates are inextricably tied. The original plan was for this song to be created from a similar-yet-distinct base, but I ultimately decided that this alternative approach I chose tells a much clearer story. In creating this track, I followed a nearly identical formula to that used to create [AEGIS], albeit with a few bumps in the road along the way. My only regret is that I could not get them to be the exact same length, but such a small margin is close enough. This song seeks to portray a paradoxical semblance of a hero — one sworn to fight on behalf of the people of the world, but instilled with "apathy" as their core value. Loyal to their cause, they carry their badge with honor, never letting their conscience waver or straying from their cause for even a moment. Yet at the same time, what appears to be cool composure is in truth cold disregard as they carry out their directives with a lazy listlessness, entirely apathetic to the lives of their foes. Standing on the side of justice, yet so far from its ideal vision, they nonetheless serve as the world's unwavering sword. As enemies obstruct their path, they cut through them with methodical, rhythmic indifference. I hope that [GLAIVE] was able to illustrate through sound the nature of this hero and the battles they fight, and bring you some small sliver of enjoyment in the process.
