[Verse] The Spirit of God is upon me And he has anointed me To deliver those in bondage and fear Proclaim the year of liberty To give an oil of gladness Instead of a spirit of heaviness Instead of a spirit of mourning To give a mantle of praise [Chorus] I want to bind up the broken-hearted Set the captive free Preach good news to the poor in spirit Open blinded eyes to see Heal the hurting, be a friend to the lonely Comfort those in distress Help them to know the love of Jesus Find his perfect peace and rest [Verse] The Spirit of God is upon me And he has anointed me To deliver those in bondage and fear Proclaim the year of liberty To give an oil of gladness Instead of a spirit of heaviness Instead of a spirit of mourning To give a mantle of praise [Chorus] I want to bind up the broken-hearted Set the captive free Preach good news to the poor in spirit Open blinded eyes to see Heal the hurting, be a friend to the lonely Comfort those in distress Help them to know the love of Jesus Find his perfect peace and rest [Bridge] So I will move in his power Do everything he commands Because I live in the strength of the Lord My life is in his hands Yes, I will move in his power Do everything he said Because I stand in the strength of the Lord I can do what Jesus did [Chorus] I want to bind up the broken-hearted Set the captive free Preach good news to the poor in spirit Open blinded eyes to see Heal the hurting, be a friend to the lonely Comfort those in distress Help them to know the love of Jesus Find his perfect peace and rest Find his perfect peace and rest
