[Verse 1] He parked by the curb in July White truck, red stripe, baby blue sky His bell kept crying down the block My little brother took one look and stopped He smiled like sugar on a spoon Said, "Come on out, I'll be back soon" But I saw the chill in his glove And the way he watched us like a judge [Pre-Chorus] If you hear that tune Lock your door If he says your name Don't go to the porch [Chorus] Don’t trust the ice cream man Don’t trust the ice cream man He’ll turn you into one He’ll turn you into one Don’t trust the ice cream man Don’t trust the ice cream man One lick, one grin, one van And you’re gone, gone, gone [Verse 2] He handed out cones like a test Pink tongue in the mirror, then the rest My cousin laughed, then his face went pale He started wearing stripes under his nails Now he hums that tune at night By the freezer glow, out of sight I keep my hands in my coat And I never, ever bite that note [Pre-Chorus] If you hear that tune Hold your breath If he says "free" That means theft [Chorus] Don’t trust the ice cream man Don’t trust the ice cream man He’ll turn you into one He’ll turn you into one Don’t trust the ice cream man Don’t trust the ice cream man One lick, one grin, one van And you’re gone, gone, gone [Bridge] He ain't selling treats He's taking names When the freezer door shuts You won't be the same [Breakdown] Hey! Keep away Hey! No way Blue truck, cold smile Run all day [Final Chorus] Don’t trust the ice cream man Don’t trust the ice cream man He’ll turn you into one He’ll turn you into one Don’t trust the ice cream man Don’t trust the ice cream man One lick, one grin, one van And you’re gone, gone, gone
