Move the Chair - Galatians 2:11-21

V6

One table. One bread. One body gathered there. Then fear walked through the doorway— And you moved your chair. [Verse 1] Antioch, shoulder to shoulder, Jew and Gentile shared the bread. No one asking for a bloodline, Only trusting Christ instead. Then some men arrived from James, And you yielded to your fear. You withdrew from Gentile brothers As the old demands drew near. One by one, the room divided; Others followed in your wake. Even Barnabas was carried Down the path you chose to take. [Pre-Chorus] Every step a leader takes Shows the others where to stand. If the cross has torn down walls, Why rebuild them with our hands? [Chorus] You can’t preach grace and move the chair; Say we’re one, then leave them there. No work of law can make us right; We stand by faith in Jesus Christ. No wall of fear, no line of pride Can split the ones He justified. Walk in step with what is true; Let the life of Christ shine through. [Verse 2] Peter, I stood before the room; I opposed you face to face. You lived freely with the Gentiles Till your fear pulled you from grace. You were born a Jew, yet lived With the Gentiles gathered there. Why then force them into customs Just to keep a place to share? We were born beneath the law, But its works could not provide The righteousness we found in Christ; By our faith we’re justified. Not by effort, rank, or status, Not by anything we’ve done. Grace is never earned from Jesus; We receive it through the Son. If our weakness shows we’re sinners, Is Christ serving sin once more? No—the guilt is mine alone If I build what stood before. If I rebuild— (WHAT GRACE TORE DOWN!) I prove myself— (THE GUILTY ONE!) The law can name— (BUT CANNOT SAVE!) Through the law, I died to law— (NOW I LIVE!) I live to God— (NOW I LIVE TO GOD!) No work of law— (CAN MAKE US RIGHT!) No human strength— (CAN GIVE US LIFE!) The cross is enough! (THE CROSS IS ENOUGH!) The Son gave His life! (THE SON GAVE HIS LIFE!) I have been crucified with Christ; The man I was has died. The life I live is no longer mine; Christ Jesus dwells inside. I live by faith in God’s own Son, Who gave Himself for me. I will not cast His grace aside; His cross has set me free. [Gospel Refrain – Call and Response] No longer I— (CHRIST DWELLS IN ME!) This life I live— (I LIVE BY FAITH!) The Son of God— (GAVE ALL FOR ME!) I will not cast aside— (HIS GRACE!) No longer I— (CHRIST DWELLS IN ME!) No longer bound— (HIS GRACE HAS SET ME FREE!) The Son gave Himself for me— (CHRIST DWELLS IN ME!) I will not throw away His grace! (CHRIST DWELLS IN ME!) [Spoken Outro] If law could ever make us right, Then Christ had died for naught. I will not cast His grace aside; I rest in what He bought. One table. One body. Christ dwells in me.
