V4.5-ALL

(Verse 1) The world was filled with violence, the heart of man had grown cold So God looked down on the earth, for the story had been told He found a man of favor, a righteous man in his day Noah walked with the Maker, as the heavens turned to gray "Build me an ark of gopher wood," the voice came from the sky "For the rain is coming heavy, and the rivers will run high." (Chorus) Oh, the rain began to fall, and the fountains broke the ground Noah and his kin were safe, with the creatures all around Locked behind the door, as the world began to fade Held within the promise, of the covenant God made Through the rising of the waters, and the thunder in the deep He kept the ones he called, in the secret place to keep. (Verse 2) The animals came two by two, the silver and the gray They found their place of shelter, before the light of day The rain it fell for forty nights, the world was washed away The mountain tops were hidden, in the mist and in the spray But the ark it floated steady, on the wild and lonely tide With nothing left behind them, but the hope they held inside. (Bridge) Then the waters started receding, the raven took its flight And the dove returned with olive leaves, to bring a glimmer of light The ark rested on the mountains, where the earth began to dry Noah stepped out on the land, beneath an open sky He built an altar to the Lord, with a heart of gratitude And the Lord looked down with mercy, on the human multitude. (Outro) A bow of light in the clouds, a promise painted there That the flood will come no more, to answer every prayer From the shadow of the judgment, to the morning of the grace The story of the ark, is the story of the race Yeah, the rain has stopped falling, and the sun begins to show We’re walking in the promise, of the days of Noah.
