The Yellow Balloon
Noon on the windows cars rolling slow somebody left a yellow balloon caught in the telephone wires The corner store doors keep opening and closing while the summer air keeps rushing through a bicycle is lying in the grass beside the sidewalk like somebody just forgot what they were doing Everything moving nothing to prove I take the long way just because I can Out past noon out past noon let it shake let it move I don't need to disappear I just need somewhere new Out past noon still here still moving Sprinklers turning over empty fields silver water in the afternoon one shoe hanging from a power line spinning slowly above the avenue Maybe getting out can feel as simple as the pavement getting warmer underneath my feet maybe staying here another minute doesn't mean that all the noise has finally gotten me Let it blur let it bend let the day begin again Go easy go anywhere no map no answer just air Out past noon out past noon let it shake let it move I don't need to disappear I just need somewhere new Out past noon still here still moving The yellow balloon is still there higher than the roofs pulling at the wire.
