[Intro — whispered over distant thunder, distorted music-box notes, and a pulsing electronic bass] On a night when the lightning Split the sky in two, A lonely heart was waiting For someone just like you. They built me from the darkness, They gave me breath and flame, But nobody ever taught me How to live without a name. Then you opened your eyes... And I thought you might love me. [VERSE 1] I woke beneath the ruins With the rain upon my face, A thousand frightened voices Screaming, “Monster, know your place!” I wandered through the shadows, Through the forests and the cold, Looking for somebody Who could see beyond the soul. Then an old blind man found me, And he called me friend that night, He couldn't see my scars and chains, He only saw the light. For the first time I was human, For the first time I belonged— Then the world came crashing through And took that feeling gone. [PRE-CHORUS] So they promised me a miracle, A heart to call my own. They built you out of thunder, And brought you from the stone. The whole world held its breath... When you opened your eyes. [CHORUS] Dance with me, my bride, Dance with me tonight, The dead are coming back to life Under electric lights. Dance with me, my bride, Don't leave me in the dark, I only ever wanted love, I only wanted a heart. The lightning strikes, The speakers shake, The whole world's turning For our haunted sake. Dance with me, my bride... Just dance with me tonight. [Electronic drop — four-on-the-floor kick, distorted synth bass, chopped vocal: “Dance... dance... dance...”] [VERSE 2] They called me something terrible, They hunted me like prey, But every time I found a friend The world took them away. Then you stood beneath the lightning, White as winter snow, And every broken piece of me Was screaming, “Don't let go.” I reached out slowly... You stepped away. I saw the fear inside your eyes, And something in me broke that day. Because you were made to know me, You were made to understand— But you looked upon the monster And refused to take his hand. [PRE-CHORUS 2] I dreamed we'd run together, Two ghosts beneath the moon. I dreamed we'd find a kingdom Where nobody came too soon. But love can't live Where fear has made its home. [DANCE BREAK] BOOM — BOOM — BOOM — BOOM Midnight... The graveyard is glowing. Neon on the tombstones. Skeletons are dancing. The orchestra is rising. The DJ turns the darkness up... And everybody's alive tonight! Dance! Dance! Dance! DANCE! [Massive electronic drop] [BRIDGE — emotional, cinematic] Maybe I was never meant To have the life they gave me. Maybe every scar I wear Is proof that someone made me. But if I can't have tomorrow, I'll remember what we knew— For one electric second... I was alive because of you. So go, my love. Run from the fire. Don't look back. Let me stay here... With the night. [FINAL CHORUS — enormous orchestral/electronic fusion] Dance with me, my bride, One final time tonight, The dead are coming back to life Beneath the flashing lights. Dance with me, my bride, Before the tower falls, I'll give you back your freedom Even though I want it all. The lightning strikes, The heavens shake, The walls are burning For our haunted sake. Dance with me, my bride... Dance with me tonight. [OUTRO] The music fades... The thunder rolls... The laboratory burns... And somewhere in the darkness, A lonely voice whispers: “I only wanted someone to dance with me.” [Final distorted synth pulse] BOOM... BOOM... BOOM... Fade into distant laughter and a music-box melody.
