The Fence of Virtue

🕊️ Morality is a fence we build, To shield the heart from harm and guilt. Without that gate, without that wall, We sleep exposed… or not at all. No golden roof, no silken bed Can calm the wars within our head. A world that climbs with rising steel, That stacks its pride above the sun, Will find its breath consumed by heat That no machine can ever shun. If virtue fades, and gold takes root— The fire will feed on every fruit. The thoughts of men, ruled by desire, Invent new gods, but build with fire. And if no balm from virtue flows, They birth great beasts the world can’t hold. What we design, we may regret— Once it devours all that's left. But minds that seek a gentler path, Can cool the earth with quieter hands. Where greed retreats, and peace returns, The shade of good will help us stand. Morality—no ancient myth— It’s soil we plant… or lose our grip. So take this law not as command, But like the earth that shapes the land. Without this root, the soul will fall— For even man must answer all. Let virtue be the breath we keep, The light that guards us while we sleep.
