I was in my childhood home the sky was all gray there was no furniture mom wasn't there I asked my brother "Where's Mom?" He said "Oh, she left" I asked "Why?" "Because she can't deal with it anymore" "Can't deal with what?" "You know, you keep breaking things, don't you understand?" "What do you mean I keep breaking things?" He looked in my eyes "Come with me" He walked down the hall. I followed him. There was this room that had like This weird liquid sort of looked like red paint but it wasn't paint and it was leaking down the walls. My brother turned to me and said "This is one of the rooms that you broke" And I said "What do you mean? How did I break it?" And he said "Well, it just kind of started to happen when you were in there" "But I don't understand" "I know" His eyes closed. "That's the problem" I said "You know it's not fair for her to just leave us here" and he said "I know, but you keep breaking things, don't you understand?" And I said "I don't understand" And he said "Well that's the problem" And I replied "How am I supposed to fix it if I don't understand?" his eyes were still closed "That's what you're supposed to figure out" I was getting angry "I don't get it" "You better figure it out because you keep breaking things, don't you understand?" "I don't understand" his eyes were still closed and he had tears going down his face "Well, that's the problem" "But what if I can't figure it out?" he said "Then you're gonna be here for the rest of your life" And I begged "That's not fair" His eyes still closed and his tears flowing he started to walk away from me "I know, but you keep breaking things. Don't you understand?" "I don't understand" he was far away but his voice was right here "That's the problem" I screamed "But what if I never understand?" he faded from view, his voice still next to me "That's the problem" but what if I never understand? that's the problem
