Exanimis Dolor - Winter Sun, Desert Skin
Cold wind on the dunes, Snow fallin’ like slow ash. Bones hum in the silence, Footprints scratchin’ the sand. I ain’t buried, I ain’t livin’, Just breathin’ in that ice-bright land. Sun cuts like a spear, Blinds the skull in my chest. White fire on the horizon, Burnin’ frost on my breath. Whole world feels ancient, Like a ghost that never rests. I bask in winter snow, Under that blinding desert sun. Heat and cold together, Like two wolves on the run. One bites my shadow, One freezes my blood undone. Coyote tracks in the drift, Rocks sweat under the glare. Fingers numb and trembling, But my spirit’s stripped bare. Found truth in the stillness, No mercy, just the stare. Salt crust on my tongue, Echoes in the canyon wide. Sky splits open silver, And I walk with none beside. Desert winter takes you, Leaves you sharpened, dried. I bask in winter snow, Under that blinding desert sun. Heat and cold together, Two wolves that never run. I stand in the in-between, Until the day is done.
