The true truth about life
There is a lot of confusion about life. The average person (Homo vulgaris) can recite an endless litany of nonsense about it — hollow phrases, repeated like profound mantras: “Life is sacred.” “Where there’s life, there’s hope.” “Life is a gift.” And, of course: “Live life to the fullest.” “Seize the day.” “Life is beautiful.” I could go on forever, ad nauseam, until you’re bored to death. But let’s set aside this Hallmark-level sentimentality and get serious. What is life? That’s an excellent question, and I appreciate you asking it. In fact, I’d say every American has asked themselves this question at least once. A precise question, demanding a rigorous and unequivocal answer. So, I’ll give it to you straight — no fluff, no sugarcoating. Life is an uninterrupted biological phenomenon, an unbroken thread of matter and information that, since its emergence roughly 3.8 billion years ago, has persisted through an infinity of transformations, mutations, and adaptations. It is based on the ability of organisms to reproduce, evolve, and interact with their environment. Life has never known interruption. Never. Every living being, from the tiniest microbe to the human, is the product of an unbroken continuity. Every living cell today comes from a living cell of yesterday, which itself came from a living cell the day before, and so on, tracing back into the abyss of time. Life is a tapestry whose threads weave and unravel but never break. And just like that, the diner falls silent. No more grand, empty phrases being tossed around. The “You only live once” and “Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep your balance you must keep moving.”? Forgotten. Bob, sitting at the counter, has even stopped stirring his coffee. Because we realize that behind us lies billions of years of biological history. That all living things are connected. You, me, George Washington, the Kardashians, and even Joe Rogan. In fact, when I say we, I should say I. I am I, you are I, we are all I. There aren’t multiple lives. There is only one. The same, since the very beginning. Anyone who says otherwise is an idiot. There. End of demonstration.
