Send the Statement, Boss (v2)

V5

Monday morning, eight on the dot Spreadsheet open, brain in a knot Strong black coffee, trying to wake While my phone starts to shake “Morning, boss - send the statement, please.” Total silence on the other end, no ease Two gray checkmarks turning blue But no reply… no “got you,” no clue Invoices out there taking a stroll Deadlines creeping out of control The bank just closed reconciliation And my accountant’s feeling the tension Deadlines sprint like an athlete fast And the taxman never lets it pass Miss the date - there’s no debate Fines and interest won’t be late Send the statement, boss man, please Before a notice brings us to our knees Help me help you stay on track So we don’t have to answer back Send the statement, my dear king Don’t say I didn’t warn a thing It’s not me knocking at your door - It’s the taxman with a roar “This week’s been crazy…” you say Voice all muffled, far away Meetings, travel, barbecue But sorting papers? That won’t do Income tax - was that set aside? Or mixed up where receipts reside? Business funds and personal spend All on the same card in the end Profit vanishes, costs appear The balance sheet screams loud and clear The accountant takes a breath so slow So he won’t just drop it and go Uh-oh… deadline’s gone, we’re sunk The system’s recalculated the junk Fines, interest, correction too Installments now the only route Redoing forms is such a pain But late is late - no love, no gain Then blame comes flying through the air: “Accountant! Why’s it growing there?” Getting organized doesn’t sting It even makes your heartstrings sing Planning ahead is not extreme It’s protection for the business machine Send the statement, boss man, now Let’s book that meeting anyhow Fix it today, sleep better tonight Peace of mind just feels so right Send the statement, my good friend Don’t let taxes twist and bend When everything is squared away We’ll raise a glass at the end of the day Message sent again today: “Good morning, still waiting - okay?” (No reply ever came...) Send the statement, boss, come on! Send the statement, brother - don’t stall! Before the taxman pounds the wall
