[Intro]
[fingerpicked acoustic guitar, piano melody]

[Verse 1]
[male vocals]
Now Paul was on his high horse
Thinking he was real hot stuff
And he persecuted Christians left and right
But Jesus stepped into the scene and said, "Saul, that's enough"
He knocked him off his high horse then he lost his sight
In his pride and arrogance, he sought the highest place
He didn't know the way up was really down
But Jesus showed him mercy when he met him face to face
And then he planted Paul's feet on the high ground

[Chorus]
[full band enters, drums, bass, electric guitar]
Get off your high horse and get with Jesus
You're lost in your pride, but he wants you to be found
Get off your high horse and get with Jesus
He's waiting there for you on the high ground

[Verse 2]
[drums and bass drop out, acoustic guitar and piano]
I thought that I was free from being a Pharisee
But I catch myself being proud and condescending
Which makes me somewhat blind to see how God's been so very kind to me
Forgiving me and granting me life unending
Well, I'm not really living until my heart's forgiven
I'm walking in the darkness till I come around
And that only happens when I humble myself
When I get off my high horse and take the high ground

[Chorus]
[full band]
Get off your high horse and get with Jesus
You're lost in your pride, but he wants you to be found
Get off your high horse and get with Jesus
He's waiting there for you on the high ground

[Bridge]
[electric guitar solo]
From the highest place in heaven, down to earth Jesus came
He took on the lowly form of a servant
But God highly exalted him and now all will bow to his name
For this warrior crushed the head of that old serpent
And now we see the heights of love for you and for me
When he said, "Father, forgive them, they know not what they do"
He could have gotten on his high horse and put everybody down
But he went to the rugged cross and took the high ground

[Verse 3]
[acoustic guitar, light piano]
So when you find yourself looking down on others
While Jesus ain't ashamed to call them his sisters and brothers
Instead show them the same mercy that Jesus has shown you
And say, "Forgive them, Lord, they know not what they do"
Oh, love your neighbor as you love yourself
And God will continually fill your cup
Dismount from your high horse, then choose that high ground
And with eagle's wings, you will mount up

[Outro]
[acoustic guitar, piano fades out]
