Hello everyone. Heading further east from Harare, our journey brings us to the coast of Mozambique and its vibrant capital, Maputo. With its stunning coastal views, ocean breezes, and rich artistic pulse, this city has a rhythmic spirit unlike anywhere else. This track, 'Maputo Nights', tells the story of my arrival at a local cultural center on the outskirts of the city. I met two incredible local workers and musicians who gave me a superstar welcome. We immediately clicked, picking up our instruments to jam together while the whole community gathered to celebrate under the palm trees. To bring Mozambique's heritage into this pop blues-rock piece, we featured the iconic timbila... a traditional wooden xylophone known for its rich, buzzing timbre. Its vibrant melodies ignite the intro, lead a high-energy mid-song jam with my slide guitar, and bring the track to a tropical, sunset close. Let the coastal breeze and acoustic rhythms transport you right to Maputo. ******************************************* © 2026 ᒍᑌᒪIᗩᑎ KᗩIᑎE. The palm trees sway against the warm sea air. The silver waves are moving everywhere. The streets of Maputo stand bright and clean. The prettiest coast that I have ever seen. [Chorus] Singing loud for a new day. Music leads the only right way. Refrain sounds under the sun's glow. Feel the rhythm start to flow. [Verse 2] The Railway Station shines in classic grand. A stunning monument across the land. The iron dome is high against the blue. The morning sun shines down on everything new. The central market hums with spice and fruit. I drive along the coastal ocean route. [Chorus] Singing loud for a new day. Music leads the only right way. Refrain sounds under the sun's glow. Feel the rhythm start to flow. [Verse 3] The Fortress wall is old and strong and grey. I watch the fishing boats out on the bay. The breeze is blowing soft across the shore. I hear the waves that crash forevermore. The evening sky turns orange red and deep. A city promise that I intend to keep. [Chorus] Singing loud for a new day. Music leads the only right way. Refrain sounds under the sun's glow. Feel the rhythm start to flow. [Verse 4] Two cultural workers greet me at the space. A joyful smile upon each friendly face. They bring their instruments and play along. The village joins to sing my dynamic song. They cheer and treat me like a star of gold. The greatest story that has yet been told. [Chorus] Singing loud for a new day. Music leads the only right way. Refrain sounds under the sun's glow. Feel the rhythm start to flow.
