Just Out Here Surviving It All
Anyone else suffering? No? Cool. Just checking, because my brain is actively melting. My spirit feels blah, and frankly, I'm pissed Why isn't "chronic nothingness" on a doctor’s list? I pay my copay, I sit in the paper chair And they tell me to breathe and get some fresh air. No! I want a pill! A little magic white pill! To fix all the wires and force me to thrill. Just rewrite my chemistry, hand me the cure, I want to be happy, aggressively pure! Why is medical science moving so slow?! Fix my serotonin, I have places to go! I just want to be happy, is that so extreme? To not feel like I'm buffering in a bad dream? And speaking of science, where are the freakin' aliens?! I'm scrolling TikTok, losing my mind to the reptilians! They promised me spaceships, they promised me facts, What happened to that "AI Atlas" UFO track?! I’m totally ready, just take me away! Do what you want with my body, okay?! I honestly don't care, just open the door, Run your weird tests while I lay on the floor! Probe me, dissect me, whatever is clever, Maybe your science will make me feel better! Rewrite my DNA, letter by letter, Because human existence is basically trash, And I’d trade it all in for a saucer to crash! Fine, I’ll do it myself! I’m taking the car! Driving off into the sunset, but going too far. Tires screeching, off the road, tearing the dirt, I just want to feel something that doesn't hurt! I park at the edge of the highest damn cliff, Lean over the edge, smelling the wind, taking a sniff. The warm sun hits my skin, oh, it’s almost profound... My legs dangling over the miles of ground. It’s peaceful. It’s perfect. It’s exactly my brand. Wait, what is that growling behind me in the sand? Rabid coyotes?! I mean, honestly, how?! I can't even have a dramatic malaise right now?! Without getting hunted in a rabies-induced daze?! They snap at my ankles, I panic, I slip I'm screaming, I'm flailing, I totally lose my grip! I slide off the edge, I'm preparing to die But I gently roll down? I don't even cry? I tumble through bushes, it's soft like a bed. I roll to a stop. I'm perfectly safe. I'm not even dead. Great. I dust myself off, and I start to walk. Into the desert, with absolutely no one to talk. The sand is too sandy, the heat is too dry, Why is the sun such an irritating yellow in my eye? My shoes are full of rocks, my phone has no bars, I’m complaining to lizards and yelling at cars that aren't there. Everything’s stupid, and everything’s dumb. My fingers are blistered, my feelings are numb. I wanted a pill, or a UFO beam, or a glorious fall... But I'm just out here. Surviving it all. I kick at the dirt, and I let out a sigh... Like... why is everything so lonely now?
