# OMARCHY / OLIGARCHY **[Intro]** Look... I just wanted Arch with Hyperland installed. Now somehow I’m involved in a culture war, three GitHub issues, four think pieces, and a venture-backed dotfiles folder. Wonderful. **[Verse 1]** I boot Omarchy, whole timeline starts barking, “THAT AIN’T ARCH!” while my terminal’s starting. Bro spent six weeks configuring his shell, I pressed install twice, now apparently I’m going to hell. Got Quickshell glowing, little borders immaculate, Arch purists watching like, “This is sacrilegious.” “You didn’t compile your personality from source!” No, Dave, I wanted Bluetooth working before divorce. They call it bloated, call it fake Arch cosplay, Meanwhile their `.config` folder needs its own résumé. Forty-seven scripts just to change a wallpaper, Then they clown on me because mine came with a launcher. Opinionated distro? Yeah, I know what I bought. I wanted someone else to finish the thoughts. If I wanted three weekends fighting PipeWire again, I’d install vanilla Arch and lose all my friends. **[Hook]** O-M-A-R-C-H-Y, Or is it **OLIGARCHY**? Ten million dollars later everybody’s like, “Wait... whose Linux is this supposed to be?” O-M-A-R-C-H-Y, Hyprland bouncing on my screen so clean. Half the web says “future of desktop computing,” Other half says, “BRO, READ THE SECURITY README.” **[Verse 2]** Then the security thread drops, now everybody panics, USB! Notifications! Docker! Dramatic! One dude posts “DO NOT USE THIS MACHINE,” Another goes, “Relax, patch landed Tuesday at three.” GitHub looking like a courtroom transcript, Reddit got twelve hundred cybersecurity experts. Guy learned `sudo` approximately last week, Now he’s explaining threat models in seventeen tweets. “AI slop!” “Tech bro!” “Bloat!” “Unsafe!” Okay, cool, can I open Firefox today? Every Linux disagreement turns philosophical fast: “You installed a default browser? You betrayed the working class.” And DHH tweets something, whole ecosystem catches fire, GNOME in one corner, Framework catching crossfire. Hyprland enters wearing sunglasses indoors, Arch users kick down all the subreddit doors. I’m just sitting there trying to adjust my brightness, Somehow that means I’ve chosen sides in a crisis. Brother, I do not know your political taxonomy. I just thought the animations looked kinda glossy. **[Hook]** O-M-A-R-C-H-Y, Or maybe **OLIGARCHY**? Millionaires funding Linux got the forums going wild, “Is this open source or Silicon Valley monarchy?” O-M-A-R-C-H-Y, Everybody pick your ideological team. I just wanted Super+Space to launch an app, Now I’m reading essays on what freedom means. **[Bridge]** Arch Wiki says: build it yourself. Omarchy says: Nah. Linux Reddit says: HOW DARE YOU. DHH says: Opinionated. Omacom foundation says: Here’s some money. The internet says: **OH NO.** **[Verse 3]** Look, I respect the guy with the hand-built rice, Kernel tweaked perfectly, boot time precise. Quickshell QML looking like a NASA control room, Three hundred lines just to make a widget zoom. But don’t act like suffering is required by the licence, I can use Linux without a PhD in device drivers. And Omarchy fans, calm down too, please, A pretty shell doesn’t make criticism obsolete. If somebody finds a hole, patch the hole, don’t cope, “Works on my laptop” isn’t a security scope. That’s the funniest part of this whole civil war: Both sides secretly love arguing more than the software. One side screaming “BLOAT!” till their vocal cords break, Other side making DHH their parasocial soulmate. Meanwhile I’m changing themes through Quickshell at night, Watching twelve Linux veterans tell me I’m doing freedom wrong online. Me? I’ll update the system. Read the changelog. Back up `$HOME`. Ignore twelve people calling me a fascist because my terminal has rounded corners. And continue using my computer. **[Final Hook]** O-M-A-R-C-H-Y, Welcome to the **OLIGARCHY**. Where your distro choice determines your ethics, Your class, your politics and your personality. O-M-A-R-C-H-Y, Arch underneath but preconfigured nicely. You wanted Linux. You got Linux discourse. And somehow... that costs ten million privately. **[Outro]** I use Omarchy by the way... Please stop typing.
