Struck By Lightning ----------------------- I got struck by lightning on the prairie wide Now my head’s a-spinnin’ like a wild bull ride My eyes see trolls a-dancin’ in the dusty street And my boots keep slippin’ on a ghostly beat There’s a hawk-faced preacher with a sooty grin Singin’ hymns with devils, oh, where’ve I been? Oh, my mind’s a tangle, where’s my old saloon? I see witches ridin’ brooms beneath the moon. They’re chantin’ riddles ‘bout my long-lost home. Ooh! Trolls are square-dancin’ in the barbershop Ghostly cows are twirlin’ on the mercantile top Lightning’s got me seein’ things that ain’t quite right Singin’ with my shadow in the dead of night Now the town’s a circus, and I’m center stage See a king on a chimney, spittin’ rhymes with rage There’s a talking cactus wearin’ my old hat And a swarm of buzzards cheerin’ like a frat They’re all swingin’ brooms in a mad parade While a toad sings ballads ‘bout a renegade Oh, my mind’s a tangle, where’s my old saloon? There’s a devil dealin’ cards in a smoky swoon He’s bettin’ my soul on a three-legged mule Ooh! Devils playin’ poker in the general store Cactus leads a hoedown on a sawdust floor Lightning’s got me seein’ things that ain’t quite right Singin’ with my shadow in the dead of night Up above, the swallows turn to dragons red Spittin’ fire and riddles ‘bout the life I led On the hill, a troll-king wears a sooty crown Says, “Cowboy, you’re lost, ain’t no turnin’ down!” Ohhh! Dragons waltz with buzzards in the moon’s pale glow Troll-king’s strummin’ banjo in a freakshow Lightning’s got me seein’ things that ain’t quite right Singin’ with my shadow in the dead of night Singin’ with my shadow in the dead of night In the dead of night. Now the fog is liftin’, and my head’s gone clear In an outhouse, starin’ at a sheep, oh dear How’d I end up here with this woolly friend? Lightning’s wild ride’s done, but the tale don’t end --- "Struck By Lightning" Copyright © 2024 Rick n' Stolti. All rights reserved. [email protected]
