Der Berg auf meinem Rücken
It began so small, a quiet little weight. But it grew and it grew, and it took away my light. It is a part of me, yet it feels so wrong. It pushes me down, it steals my direction... Yaaah… The mountain on my back, it keeps on growing. It drips and twitches, it wants to break free. I carry it in silence, but it screams in me. The mountain on my back – my dance in dread, in dread! Back!! (Back!) My back!! Back!! (Back!) The mountain on my back!! It soaks through the skin, it reeks of death. A pulse in the pus, a throbbing mass. You hear it smacking, when I’m alone. And all my dreams are full of blood and meaning… The mountain on my back, it keeps on growing. It breathes for me, it lives in me. I feed it daily with flesh and pain. The mountain on my back – it is my heart, my chain! Back!! (Back!) My back!! Back!! (Back!) The mountain on my back!! They came to the feast, they laughed and they ate. I stood at the head of the table and could barely believe... …how much they enjoyed it. Back!! (Back!) My back!! Back!! (Back!) I cut it out!! YAAAHHH!!! Back!! (Back!) My back!! Back!! (Back!) The mountain is gone – but it lives in you!! It lives... in you... in you...
