Cleansing Fire [Intro] [A crackling fire sound. A filtered, distorted 808 rumbles. A high, ethereal vocal wails a single note.] Fire... Burn away... All the dross... Show me the way... Jah... Purify... [Verse 1] You are the refiner, the one who sits by the fire, To burn away everything that is not your desire. Your goodness is a furnace that melts away sin, Your mercy is the peace that you're placing within. I was covered in ashes, the wages of my past, But your cleansing fire came and it set me free at last. You don't leave me in the fire, you pull me on through, A vessel of honor, made holy for you. [Verse 2] Your mercy is a fire that consumes all my pride, It exposes the darkness where I used to hide. It's not a fire of anger, but a fire of love, A gift of the Spirit sent from above. You are the silversmith, patient and true, You watch o'er the flames till your image shines through. Your goodness is the heat that makes the gold pure, Of your love and your mercy, I am so sure. [Chorus 1] Cleansing fire, burn in me, Make me the person you want me to be. Your mercy is a flame, your goodness a light, Burning so bright in the darkest of night. Purify my heart, oh Jah, I pray, And lead me in your everlasting way. [Verse 3] You are a consuming fire, a jealous God, But your discipline leads me back to your rod. And your staff, they comfort me, they show me the way, And I'll follow you, Jah, for the rest of my days. You turn my mourning into dancing again, You heal my broken heart, you erase all the pain. Your goodness and mercy, they're a refining flame, That teaches me to praise your holy name. [Chorus 2] Cleansing fire, burn in me, Make me the person you want me to be. Your mercy is a flame, your goodness a light, Burning so bright in the darkest of night. Purify my heart, oh Jah, I pray, And lead me in your everlasting way. [Bridge] [Fire crackles louder. Music becomes intense but stays ethereal.] Burn... Burn... Burn away the sin... Burn... Burn... Let the new life begin... Consume... Consume... Everything that's wrong... And leave... And leave... Only a new song... [Outro] [The fire subsides, the music becomes peaceful again. A gentle 808 beat returns.] Cleansed... Pure... Goodness... Mercy... A new creation... Jah... Rastafari... [Fire sound fades to a soft crackle, then silence.]
