[Verse 1] We were wandering in our shadows Heaven saw us Heaven came Every chain that held us captive Snapped at the whisper of Your name You have written us a future In the scars upon Your hands Now we’re standing in Your mercy On the rock that cannot bend [Chorus] We sing joy Joy Joy in the Father For the joy of the Lord is our strength Every burden falls down at the altar Every grave-song turns into praise We’re redeemed We’re alive We remember How You carried us out of the flame We sing joy Joy Joy in the Father For the joy of the Lord is our strength (hey!) [Verse 2] You have washed us in Your promise Lifted ashes Crowned us heirs We were orphans Now a family Every heartbeat says You’re here From the valley to the mountain From the quiet to the roar We will tell of Your redemption Till our lungs can sing no more [Chorus] We sing joy Joy Joy in the Father For the joy of the Lord is our strength Every burden falls down at the altar Every grave-song turns into praise We’re redeemed We’re alive We remember How You carried us out of the flame We sing joy Joy Joy in the Father For the joy of the Lord is our strength [Bridge] We were lost Now we’re found together (together) We were blind Now our eyes awake We were dead Now we’re raised forever Every breath a shout of grace We were lost Now we’re found together By the blood that broke our chains So we laugh in the face of sorrow For Your joy will never fade [Chorus] We sing joy Joy Joy in the Father For the joy of the Lord is our strength Every burden falls down at the altar Every grave-song turns into praise We’re redeemed We’re alive We remember How You carried us out of the flame We sing joy Joy Joy in the Father For the joy of the Lord is our strength
