Ashes of My Faith

V5.5

I walked alone through a hollow night, with a broken prayer and a fading light. My hands were cold, but I held on tight, to a ghost of faith I couldn’t fight. There was a cross in the dust I drew, but the lines kept shaking, I never knew. If heaven listens or just stays still, while I drown inside my own free will. And I whispered low, “Are you still there?”, but silence answered every prayer. I burned my faith in a midnight flame, still called your holy, sacred name. Through the ashes, through the pain, I begged for truth, but found no rain. There’s a Bible torn on my wooden floor, pages bleed like they’ve cried before. Every word feels like a lie I wore, still I keep knocking on your door. If you’re the light, then why this dark? Why every soul bears a hidden scar? I burned my faith in a midnight flame, still called your holy, sacred name. Through the ashes, through the pain, I screamed for truth into the rain. Maybe faith ain’t meant to save, Maybe god just digs the grave. Or maybe I just lost the way, and turned my night into my day. I burned my faith but still I pray, in the dark, I lost my way. If you’re there, don’t turn away, I’m still yours… though I decay. “I still believe… I still believe…”
