She walks by my locker Like a movie in the hall Blue ribbon in her ponytail And I forget to act tall My palms get all clumsy When she says my name I chew on my courage Then I light that flame I got a brand new plan In my cuff and in my grin I’ll make her laugh so easy She’ll let me wander in Dreamgirl, dreamgirl I’m coming in bold Dreamgirl, dreamgirl Gonna make you unfold With a cherry soda smile And a love-note stare I’ll sweep you off your feet Like you never had a care I’ll hold your books in the rain Walk you home real slow Save you the last jellybean From the corner store I’ll call when the moon’s up Just to hear you say That my wild little heart Made your gray day sway I got a brand new plan In my cuff and in my grin I’ll make her laugh so easy She’ll let me wander in Dreamgirl, dreamgirl I’m coming in bold Dreamgirl, dreamgirl Gonna make you unfold With a cherry soda smile And a love-note stare I’ll sweep you off your feet Like you never had a care Maybe I’m just a kid With a shiny tie and dream But I know when you pass by My whole world starts to lean So if you’ll save me one dance I’ll be the best I can Soft shoes, steady hands And a heart-made plan Dreamgirl, dreamgirl I’m coming in bold Dreamgirl, dreamgirl Gonna make you unfold With a cherry soda smile And a love-note stare I’ll sweep you off your feet Like you never had a care Dreamgirl, dreamgirl Stay a little while Dreamgirl, dreamgirl With that cherry soda smile
