[Verse 1] [Intro – cheerful guitar + building drums] Thursday evening, the phone it rang And suddenly everything changed Lassie had tasted freedom that night And disappeared right into the woods out of sight Everything there was strange and new No familiar roads or scents she knew So everyone quickly took their place Volunteers searching every space --- [Pre-Chorus] Somewhere out there a lonely dog roamed Through wind and rain so far from home --- [Chorus] [big and uplifting] Lassie, Lassie, what an adventure Through forests and highways, hour after hour But everybody kept believing in you Never giving up, they carried through Then suddenly a message came in sight “There she is!” someone cried with delight But just as fast, she slipped away again And the search went on through roads and rain --- [Verse 2] Friday morning, back on the road Because nobody gave up hope A friend arrived to search for you Quietly watching what you would do Then news came from a little town Lassie’s wandering around! Everybody worked so hard that day Until Lassie was finally seen that way --- [Pre-Chorus] Police arrived and closed the lane So Lassie couldn’t run again --- [Chorus] [big and festive] Lassie, Lassie, what an adventure Through forests and highways, hour after hour But everybody kept believing in you Never giving up, they carried through Then suddenly you found a place Under that truck you stayed safe And there they finally could reach you As all the fear and tension flew --- [Bridge] [softer moment] Sirens quiet… A deep relieved sigh… And happiness filled the sky Volunteers with tears and smiles that day Because Lassie was finally safe again --- [Final Chorus] [big and uplifting] Lassie, Lassie, safe and sound Today we celebrate what we found All the people standing strong together To bring a lost dog home forever!
