He uses his second relic, an amulet that allows him to listen to ancient sounds from far away. While others keep watch, search for traps, and combat the rising fear along the cursed road, he senses the heartbeat of something ancient calling from beneath the chapel stones. β—Ύβ—Ύβ—Ύβ—Ύβ—Ύ Tell Me For Whom The Bell Tolls [Verse 1] The map upon the tavern table Changed sometime in the night. A road appeared through blackened pines Where none had been in sight. They answered Blackroot Hollow’s call, Through mud and rain and trees. While Borin roared and Lutzrik sang "Raise the mead!" through chilling breeze. Zikka's fiddle danced, Ricardo crooned, Our spirits soaring over all, Then somewhere far beneath the hills , The eerie bell began to toll. [Verse 2] The singing faltered for a breath, As cold ran through the line. Deyla and Dragon, still scouting ahead, Folded closer at the chime. The dwarves sang on, much louder now, Against the rising dread. Their voices crashed through rain and fog, Like hammers overhead. [Verse 3] Tarja drew warmth from wheel and flame, Vaelen’s hawk cried sharp and long - While Vaelric wove a darker hymn Beneath the marching song. And Kaelen turned completely still, And forced himself to hear, While shivers crept beneath his skin - Deep resonance drawing near... [Chorus] Tell me for whom the bell tolls - Down where the Blackroots grow. Why warmth now sounds so wrong and what's buried down below. Its voice should carry comfort, But every note drags through the rain. Tell me for whom the bell tolls - Whose iron heartbeat wakes again. [Verse 4] Each toll returned too clear and strong, No weakening through stone, As though something beneath the hills, Resonated within the tone. Garrik measures the frequency, The needles start to spin. Kaelen's rifle hums in urgency, Ancient relics answering within. [Chorus] Tell me for whom the bell tolls - Down where the Blackroots grow. Kaelens brazen amulet calls, its crystal shining - a bright blue glow. [Bridge] He listens to noises from afar, Like propellers in a clouded sky. A familiar sound drifts to his ears, A trembling heart, a clockwork's cry. [Final Chorus] Tell me for whom the bell tolls - What ancient heart still beats. Machine or beast beneath the ground - To Kaelen, both they speak. Tell me for whom the bell tolls - Not cursed but built to warn. A call for aid in times of need, And the dark veil - just its shield. [Outro] Questions rise in Kaelens mind - But answers will be found. With true companions by his side - As in the days of skies unbound. Special thanks to everyone I did not manage to integrate into the song - Son of Pharaohs, Craig, Ashthorne, Garok, Valeska, Lyra, and Goldfish - for keeping watch while the party travelled to Blackroot Hollow...
