[Verse 1]
(Rhythmic door knocking on acoustic guitar body - *knock knock knock*)
The police knock on your door in the night
With news that you just can’t bare to face
There’s been a terrible accident
And suddenly you’re frozen in place
Your world was just shattered to pieces
With more than your heart can take
And you cry out in anguish to God
And ask, "Why?"

[Verse 2]
Why does my wife have cancer?
Why is my child on drugs?
Why did I lose my job?
Why did You take my loved one?
Why is my marriage failing?
Why don't You hear my prayers?
When I cry out to You, Lord
Are You still there?

[Chorus - Add SATB Background Vocals]
He is
He's never left your side
He's heard every single prayer
And held you when you cried
His silence isn't indifference
He's working for your good
To heal your heart in your grief
And He asks one question:
"Do you trust Me?"

[Verse 3]
We may not understand it
This side of heaven's shore
Why some roads seem so broken
And some hearts ache even more
But every tear that's fallen
Has never been ignored
He's writing stories of redemption
Like He's done many times before

[Instrumental Pre-Bridge]

[Bridge]
(Add double SATB background vocals)
When the answers never come
And you're barely holding on
Remember every promise He has said
"I'll never leave you
I'll never let you go
With arms stretched wide, My love poured out
(Lead Vocals and acoustic guitar only)
So trust Me and know
When your strength is gone
Just lean on Me"

[Instrumental Lift]

[Chorus - Add SATB Background Vocals]
He is
He's never left your side
He's heard every single prayer
And held you when you cried
His silence isn't indifference
He's working for your good
To heal your heart in your grief
And He asks one question:
"Do you trust Me?"

[Final Chorus]
(Double SATB background vocals echos on the phrase “Do you trust me”)
When the road is long and hard
Do you trust Me? (Do you trust me)
When you're standing in the dark
Do you trust Me? (Do you trust me)
When you cannot see ahead
Will you place your hand in Mine
And let Me lead instead?
Do you trust Me? (Do you trust me)
Do you trust Me? (Do you trust me)
Even here, through every trial
Do you trust Me? (Do you trust me)

[Outro - Lead Vocals only with acoustic guitar]
He's faithful to the end
He carried you before
He will carry you again
All He asks of you is
Do you trust Me?
