Insomnia

[Intro - Slow and Haunting Saxophone backed by a 6 String Extended Range Cello that gives the intro a very atmospheric, melancholic dark vibe, feeling like you're almost falling asleep but can't sleep] [8 String Schecter and Saxophone enter to follow the haunting atmosphere. Guitar starts with a clean delayed effect and drops into a mid scooped Distortion. Saxophone plays runs that harmonize with the guitar riffs] [Verse 1 - Restrained low groove, saxophone answering the ends of vocal lines] Four in the morning Still staring ahead My body's begging My head won't give in I count every minute Then count them again The night keeps getting longer The closer it gets to the end [Pre-Chorus - Guitar pulls back, extended range cello becomes more prominent] Heavy eyes Wide awake One more hour One more day [Chorus - Huge melodic section with saxophone harmonizing behind the vocals] I can't sleep I can't shut it off Every thought Keeps coming back I can't sleep Morning comes too soon Another night I never made it through [Post-Chorus - Saxophone repeats the chorus melody over a syncopated 8 string riff] [Verse 2 - Heavier than Verse 1, vocals becoming increasingly strained] I flip the pillow I turn to the wall Nothing feels different Nothing works at all My eyes start closing Then something pulls me back Seconds from losing consciousness And there it starts again [Pre-Chorus] Heavy eyes Wide awake One more hour One more day [Chorus] I can't sleep I can't shut it off Every thought Keeps coming back I can't sleep Morning comes too soon Another night I never made it through [Instrumental Passage - Extended Range Cello carries the main melody while the 8 string guitar plays an uneven progressive rhythm beneath it. Saxophone slowly enters and begins trading phrases with the guitar] [Bridge - Nearly everything drops out except cello, clean guitar and distant saxophone] The clock keeps moving I stay the same Night after night Again and again My body gives up My mind stays on Then daylight reaches me And the night is gone [Heavy Instrumental Build - The bridge melody returns on distorted 8 string guitar. Saxophone doubles portions of the riff before separating into increasingly frantic runs] [Final Chorus - Largest section of the song, desperate layered vocals] I can't sleep I can't shut it off Every thought Keeps coming back I can't sleep Morning comes too soon Another night I never made it through I can't sleep I'm sick of counting hours Waiting for my head To finally give out [Outro - Distortion disappears abruptly. Return to the same extended range cello and saxophone arrangement from the intro. Saxophone plays a slower altered version of the opening melody as if another night is beginning] Still awake Still awake Still awake
