The Elephant in the Room
The Elephant in the Room The elephant’s in the room — a room with no walls, And the ceiling a–bove — has begun — to fall. Am I in this room alone — or in a crowd with creatures lacking eyes? Obvious alienation — the symbol of our demise. A creature that hides its own death — in the center is where it lies. Do you see me, or am I the mirror showing you you're unwise? I’m right here, excuse me. I’m right here, use me. Knowledge known but ignored. I’m screaming now — just to break inertia’s force. The elephant’s in the room — a room with no walls, And the ceiling a–bove — has begun — to fall. I've been here so long, unseen by the eyes that watch over me. The same ones who buried toxins in earth — and poured poison into the sea. In a room with no walls, just a ceiling beginning to fall — comfortably. They stare right at me, but won’t say what they see. I’m right here, excuse me. I’m right here, use me. Knowledge known but ignored. I’m screaming now — just to break inertia’s force. The elephant’s in the room — a room with no walls, And the ceiling a–bove — has begun — to fall. The oblivious orchestrate the unenlightened — coordinating collapse. Climate is a collateral casualty of collective creative crimes. Education: an allegory of explanation — but an exception when estimating the end of times. See what I'm saying, without ever seeing me — am I an elephant or a tree? I’m right here, excuse me. I’m right here, use me. Knowledge known but ignored. I’m screaming now — just to break inertia’s force. The elephant’s in the room — a room with no walls, And the ceiling a–bove — has begun — to fall. As the empty forest falls — chopped down by hands not around — as the heat begins to rise. Did you hear what was happening, before the children began to die? Plutonium practices — let loose, laid low beneath the lies. Chernobyl was a one-off — but there’ve been others in disguise. I’m pleading, it’s bleeding. The blood floods — but the dying’s not yet done. We can still escape this fate — if we choose to overcome. See me, see me. — I’m the truth that can’t be undone. The elephant in the room — unseen by everyone. I know that you see me. You know that you see me. Why won’t you say you see me? Blindness isn’t what prevents the vision of what’s to come. It’s denial of all our ancestors — and we — have done. The elephant’s in the room — a room with no walls, And the ceiling a–bove — has begun — to fall. The days grow longer, the orbit decays, and the resources evaporate. We multiply as the sustenance divides — which generation will cry? Nature awaits to answer consequences of our calamities and crimes. Were you aware you're on trial?
