THE RIGHT TO VIOLENCE v2

V5.5

[Intro – spoken, cold and theatrical] Welcome to the city where the night wears a painted smile, and the state measures every man by the length of his chain. [Verse 1] Alex comes out when the pavement sleeps, a spark in his eyes, a storm in his fists. He laughs out loud when somebody screams, because another man’s fear is the wine that he drinks. His eyes shine white, but his purpose is black, boots on the staircase beat out the attack. The music gets louder whenever men fall, beauty and violence — a fucked-up carnival. [Pre-Chorus] But every night has a price to be paid, every tormentor will meet his own cage. There is no glory, no freedom, no crown, only a man who is hooked on dragging others down. [Chorus] A Clockwork Orange, living heart in a grave of steel. First you strike them for your pleasure, then the system shows you how it feels. A Clockwork Orange, blood on your hands, a leash on your neck. Some use violence for desire, others use the law to justify the wreck. [Verse 2] They locked Alex up in a sterile white room, and said, “Now we’ll teach you what peace means to you.” They forced back his eyelids and turned on the screen, until his own body betrayed every scream. The doctor was smiling, the minister cheered: “Behold, a new man — corrected and cleared.” They never asked about conscience or choice, they only wanted a body without its own voice. [Pre-Chorus] Because power does not heal — power trains, paints up a muzzle and gives it freedom’s name. When you steal the choice from even a bastard, you do not make him human — you manufacture a master. [Chorus] A Clockwork Orange, living heart in a grave of steel. First you strike them for your pleasure, then the system shows you how it feels. A Clockwork Orange, blood on your hands, a leash on your neck. Some use violence for desire, others use the law to justify the wreck. [Bridge – slow, harshly sung] I will not defend his fists. I will not mourn beneath his boot. But a state that cures violence with violence is just another criminal wearing a cleaner suit. There is no goodness without choosing. There is no guilt without a soul. A man denied the right to stumble is just flesh beneath control. [Final Chorus – explosive] A Clockwork Orange, turning behind a steel-bound door. Alex laughs the way he used to, while the system changes masks once more. A Clockwork Orange, same nightmare, another man in charge. Some will kick you in the gutter, others crush you with the stamp of law. There are no heroes! There are no clean hands! There is violence in the alley and violence in official plans! There is no freedom when the right to choose is gone. A human being is not a machine, though the machines keep ruling on. [Outro – shouted, dragged out] And now let the whole damn thing go straight to hell...
