[Verse 1] Looking left and looking right at everybody's lane Comparing all my progress was driving me insane They are moving faster, they are jumping up high While I'm taking quiet steps as the time goes by Felt like I was lagging behind in the rear Until a gentle reminder came into my ear [Chorus] I'm running my own race! Pacing my feet! Walking my own path down my own street! Don't need to beat you, don't need to be first I'm quenching my own heart's personal thirst! Steady and proud, staying right in my line My own little victory is looking just fine! [Verse 2] Two different people, two different ways Two different stories in two different days I celebrate your wins while I work on my own Building up my confidence muscle and bone No envy in my heart, no need to compete Every single step I take is strong and complete! [Chorus] I'm running my own race! Pacing my feet! Walking my own path down my own street! Don't need to beat you, don't need to be first I'm quenching my own heart's personal thirst! Steady and proud, staying right in my line My own little victory is looking just fine! [Outro] My own speed, my own place Proudly running my own race! [End]
