[Chorus] It's a lie when they say that your faith is automatic, It's a dangerous path, and the truth is dramatic. I'm a sinner, not a Saint who is already finished, If I stop putting work in, my spirit is diminished. [Verse 1] They preach of the peace, that effortless tide, Saying the push of the Spirit will always abide. But if it's automatic, why do I wake up and fight? Against the sudden anger and the choice to do what's right? The easy-believism—it breeds a false high, Makes us arrogant judges when other Christians strive. [Chorus] It's a lie when they say that your faith is automatic, It's a dangerous path, and the truth is dramatic. I'm a sinner, not a Saint who is already finished, If I stop putting work in, my spirit is diminished. [Verse 2] I read what they say, and I know why they fail, When they deny the work, the truth begins to pale. Scripture says the opposite of being pure and whole, That all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God's goal. And James made it clear: faith without works is dead, And he wasn't discussing a different faith ahead. [Verse 3] This marathon race, you have to run it to win, I can't pour from an empty cup if I let the weakness sink in. The discipline to obey, choosing prayer before the rush, That active will is stronger than the easy push. Though I take time alone, it's fueling up my faith, Fighting my daily doubt, escaping spiritual wraith. [Outro] So don't lie to yourself, don't wait for the feeling, Grace is the engine, and effort is the gearshift for the healing. So pick up your cross and march on forward. ©2025 By Matthew E Treviño
