MY FUTURE CALLED — I ANSWERED [PHONE RING — SPOKEN INTRO] Ring… ring… “Hello?” SILLI-E …… “Yo… it’s you.” “Who?” “Me. You—later.” “…How far later?” “Far enough to know you shouldn’t still be wasting time.” “Why you calling?” “Because we got work to do.” Click. [VERSE 1] My future called, I answered, said, “What’s the occasion?” He said, “I’m tired of watching you negotiate with hesitation, You keep putting your purpose on airplane mode, While I’m standing at the destination watching opportunities load.” He said, “Stop hitting snooze on a dream with your name on it, You keep saying ‘one day’ like one day got your name on it, Time ain’t got a return policy, every second gets spent, You can’t put tomorrow on layaway and call it investment.” I said, “But I’m not ready.” He said, “Ready ain’t required, You become who you’re supposed to be by doing what’s required, You keep waiting for confidence before you make the first move, I became confident because I watched you refuse to quit and move.” Then he said, “Remember all those nights you thought you were behind? Those weren’t wasted years—they were sharpening your mind. You thought you missed your moment, I was waiting in the wings, Now quit asking when it’s coming…” “Go build the thing.” [HOOK] My future called—I answered, Said, “We got work to do.” Said, “Quit waiting on tomorrow, Tomorrow’s waiting on you.” My future called—I answered, Said, “You already know the truth, Every minute that you’re wasting Is a minute I’m losing too.” So I’m picking up the phone, Picking up the pen, Picking up the purpose I put down back then. My future called—I answered… “Now let’s begin.” [VERSE 2] He said, “I got your dreams, but they’re getting impatient, Some of ’em are fully grown, some still waiting on placement, You keep calling them fantasies—I call ’em assignments, God gave you the blueprint, you keep asking for the alignment.” He said, “You worried about age? That’s a number, not a verdict, Every year you survived made the message more perfect, You counting birthdays, I’m counting lessons you collected, You call it getting older—I call it getting better connected.” Then he said, “Don’t confuse preparation with procrastination, There’s a difference between patience and hesitation, Faith ain’t sitting still hoping heaven does the labor, Faith puts boots on the ground and trusts God with the favor.” I said, “What if they don’t believe me?” He laughed through the receiver, “Why you need approval from somebody who can’t see your future?” Then the line started breaking, I said, “Wait—say it again!” He said… “Stop trying to get permission from people who aren’t coming with you.” Click. [HOOK] My future called—I answered, Said, “We got work to do.” Said, “Quit waiting on tomorrow, Tomorrow’s waiting on you.” My future called—I answered, Said, “You already know the truth, Every minute that you’re wasting Is a minute I’m losing too.” So I’m picking up the phone, Picking up the pen, Picking up the purpose I put down back then. My future called—I answered… “Now let’s begin.” [VERSE 3] Now every morning feels like somebody’s calling my name, Could be opportunity, could be purpose, could be pain, I don’t screen calls anymore, I pick ’em up and listen, Because sometimes God uses interruptions to redirect the mission. I used to ask the future, “What you got for me?” Now the future asks, “What you doing with what God gave you?” That’s a different conversation, different frequency, I’m not chasing who I’ll be—I’m becoming intentionally. I got dreams in my voicemail, goals on hold, Ideas in my inbox that I’ve been scared to unfold, But I’m clearing out the clutter, giving purpose more space, Every day another message from the person I’m becoming gets placed. And if tomorrow calls, tell tomorrow I’m busy, Busy building something that the old me wouldn’t risk, see? I ain’t trying to predict it, I’m preparing for the call, Because the future ain’t a place— It’s a person I’m becoming every day that I choose to evolve. [FINAL HOOK] My future called—I answered, Said, “We got work to do.” Said, “Quit waiting on tomorrow, Tomorrow’s waiting on you.” My future called—I answered, Said, “God still got a plan, You keep looking for the future— I’m becoming who I am.” So I’m picking up the phone, Picking up the pen, Picking up the purpose I put down back then. My future called—I answered… “Let’s begin.” [PHONE RING — SPOKEN OUTRO] Ring… ring… “Hello?” “It’s me again.” “Future?” “Yeah.” “What now?” “Nothing.” “Nothing?” “Just calling to remind you…” “Keep going. I’m waiting on the other side of it.” Click.
