The Lord is my light and my salvation, Whom shall I fear, O Lord? The Lord is the protector of my life, Before whom shall I tremble? When darkness rises against my soul, When enemies surround my heart, Thou art my refuge, O Most High, My strength when all else falls apart. Though armies gather round about me, Though war arise against my soul, My heart shall trust in Thee alone, For Thou, O Lord, shalt make me whole. One thing have I asked of Thee, O Lord, And this alone shall I seek: To dwell within Thy holy house, And behold Thy beauty eternally. Hide me beneath Thy sacred dwelling, Conceal me in Thy tabernacle, Set me upon the rock of salvation, Lift my head above the darkness. Hear, O Lord, my voice crying unto Thee, Have mercy upon me and answer me. My heart hath spoken unto Thee, Thy face, O Lord, I shall seek. Thy face, O Lord, Thy face I seek, Turn not Thy countenance away. Forsake me not, O God my Saviour, Be Thou my light upon the way. Though father and mother should forsake me, The Lord Himself shall take me in. His mercy deeper than the oceans, His love more mighty than my sin. Teach me Thy way, O Lord of mercy, Guide me along the narrow road. Let not my soul be overcome, Nor crushed beneath the tempter’s load. I believe that I shall see Thy goodness, In the land of those who live. Beyond the shadows of this valley, Thy holy light shall never dim. Expect the Lord, O weary soul, Do manfully, and let thy heart take courage. Be strengthened in the Lord thy God, And wait upon His holy presence. O Lord, my light, my salvation, My refuge through the darkest night, My heart shall rest within Thy mercy, Until I see Thy glorious light. Thy face I seek, O Lord, Thy face, My soul awaits Thy saving grace. In life, in death, in endless days, To Thee alone be endless praise. Amen.
