V5.5

[Intro - almost a whisper, piano and distant metallic noise] I remember the sun. I think… it used to feel warm. I remember closing my eyes and feeling the light upon my face. Or… maybe now I only think I remember. [Verse I] I remember the square by the ancient gates, where the wind moved softly through my hair. I remember someone’s familiar laughter, but the name is gone… As if it never existed at all. I remember hands— someone’s palms holding mine. I remember a voice: — Ksun, don’t go. But no matter how deep I search my memory, I cannot remember the face. Only warmth. Only a voice. Only pain. [Pre-Chorus] Every century takes another piece away. First the scents. Then the voices. Then the faces. And one day… only a name will remain. [Chorus] I REMEMBER THE SUN… BUT I CAN’T REMEMBER ITS COLOR. I remember that I loved someone, but I no longer know who. I remember how my heart used to tremble inside me. Now only metal answers the silence. If eternity is a gift, why does it hurt so much? Why does my memory grow quieter with every passing age? I still whisper through the cold of time: I remember the sun… I remember… I remember… [Verse II] I remember a room, a window, the dawn. There was a cup on the table. I think it was blue. Or green? I try to remember. Again. And again. But the color falls apart like dust between my fingers. I remember a woman who sang to me when I was a child. Her voice was gentle. I know that for certain. But her eyes… Her hair… Her name… Mother? … Why can’t I remember you? [Chorus - stronger] I REMEMBER THE SUN… BUT I CAN’T REMEMBER ITS COLOR. I remember an embrace, but those arms are gone. I remember how I cried when something hurt. Now even tears are no longer allowed to me. If eternity is salvation, why does every passing age take someone quietly inside me and kill them forever? I still whisper through the cold of time: I remember the sun… I remember… [Bridge - music almost disappears] Memory archive: Sector damaged. Recovery impossible. Personality fragment: Lost. Emotional connection: Unidentified. Name: … … … No. No! DO NOT DELETE IT! It mattered! I KNOW IT MATTERED! Someone held my hand. Someone called me Ksun. Not “Sovereign.” Not “Queen.” Just… Ksun. Who? WHO WAS IT?! [Silence] … Data unavailable. [Verse III - quietly, brokenly] I have watched worlds die. I have watched stars collapse. I have outlived armies that believed themselves eternal. But the most terrifying thing… is not death. The most terrifying thing… is waking up one day and realizing that the person you loved more than life itself has died a second time. First from the world. And then… from inside you. [Pre-Final Chorus - almost without drums] I remember the sun. I know I remember. I remember the flowers beside the road that led me home. I remember someone walking there beside me. I remember love. I remember warmth. Please… let that be enough. [Final Chorus - huge orchestra and choir] I REMEMBER THE SUN! THOUGH MY MEMORY FALLS INTO DARKNESS! I will hold on to every fragment as long as I live! But I will never die. That is my curse. I am eternal, and still my past keeps dying. A million worlds may kneel before me, but not one of them can give me back that day when I was alive. I REMEMBER THE SUN! I REMEMBER THE WARMTH! Though the faces are gone, though the name has disappeared— as long as even one small spark remains, I will keep repeating it again and again: I was human. I was alive. I was Ksun. [Outro - one voice, almost a whisper] Today I tried again to remember the color of the sun. Red? Golden? White? … I don’t know. But I remember that once I looked at it and I was happy. Maybe… for now, that is enough. … For now… it is enough.
